Welcome to the Department of Interdisciplinary 健康科学 (IDH), “where health and human interests intersect.” IDH students gain a solid foundation in both the natural and behavioral sciences through rigorous coursework, 实践研究, and real-world experiences in the community. While we have an excellent understanding of human health and disease, what sets us apart is our understanding of the variety of influences on health behavior. Humans are not solely groups of organized cells to be kept functioning properly, we are deeply complex creatures living in diverse communities that influence our health behaviors.
We believe that all people have a right to optimal health and wellbeing, and that you can use your knowledge and skills to positively influence health and wellness outcomes in all settings. You will find a variety of courses taught by faculty who prioritize critical thinking, 信息素养, and evidence-based practices. Our supportive faculty create an atmosphere where diversity is valued, and social justice and equity are integrated throughout the curriculum. We can’t wait to see you contribute to our shared vision in our classes.
Our goal is to help students discover their unique talents and passions, and provide the tools to foster your growth and independence, and to prepare you for a satisfying career in diverse fields. Our students have been successful in traditional 临床 health career paths, but also find satisfying careers in alternative settings, such as healthcare leadership and community health practice. There is no single path to success, and we encourage you to explore the possibilities by taking classes with our outstanding faculty, by taking interesting elective course options, and by getting involved in research, community outreach projects, and the ECLIPSE leadership program.
